These look like they were drawn by a maniacal 4th grader. what, you don't get CGI for $200K?
The berm doesn't look all that bad in the renderings at least, and I don't see what is wrong with placing it between the gardens and that parking lot at all... You said you might lose a few of the gardens, but these can be replaced, and even if not it seems rather silly to me that one should sacrifice the park as a whole in order to save a couple of gardens. And I don't see why it's such a big deal that it would create a wall between the park and the parking lot. Seems more like nit-picking to me..
